I'm actually brushing the lacquer on a guitar, even though it's the spray formulation. It flows and levels well if I don't overapply it. I'm quite happy with it so far.
My biggest problem with (everything I try and spray) is orange peel. I'm using a Fuji mini-mite 5 and T75 gun with 1.5mm tip. Since I'm relatively new to spraying, I need to play with my settings some more and try various techniques to see if I can fix this. I've been using full air flow and have not been thinning the finish. Temperature and humidity have been in optimal ranges so that's not my problem. Once cured, this finish can be wet sanded to a glass-like smoothness, but I'd really like to not have to do much/any of that.
Used it on a walnut cabinet and it turned out great. Looks very rich and dark . Your products are great!
Super durable, dries and cure so fast...
I have used it with and without the sanding sealer and shellac sealer. Works great. Levels and dries well. great look and feel.
We had experimented with several finishes--even UV-cure finishes--before landing on Emtech 9300 Urethane, which we used exclusively. It gave us great, reliable results with a durable finish. But since trying the EmCat line of conversion varnish, we've switched. It's ease-of-use, great flow, fast recoat times, and quick cure time--even in our Central Florida humidity--has greatly expedited our work flow. The final finish result is the smooth, high-end furniture text our customers want and the durability is fantastic.
Carla,
Thank you for your Emcat+ review! We greatly appreciate your professional opinion about how well the EC2A topcoat and EC2B Catalyst behave in your part of the United States. Central Florida is certainly a challanging place to be a pro-finisher. Thank you for your past business and congoing support.

I used this product to refinish existing cabinets and spray new doors. I sprayed the doors and rolled the cabinet. Both finishes came out excellent and it was extremely easy to spray with a mid-grade HPLV sprayer. The self leveling properties and burn in of each additional layer was excellent. Also, I got it custom tinted and it matched perfectly. I really could not speak any higher of this product!
I have started my own small custom cabinet and furniture shop last year after 20 years doing commercial and residential millwork. The finishing aspect has been the biggest learning curve. After reading some of the blogs written by Seth, and seeing other people mention Emtech, I decided to give it a go. I can't explain how happy I have been, but I will try.
1.) Ease of use
2.) No hard fumes or solvent needed.
3.) Fast Dry times.
4.) Durable beautiful finishes.
Last the tech support has been tremendous! I deal with Seth and he always takes time to respond and answer any questions I have. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
I will be a customer for a long time to come.

Sprays like the brite white. Used on dresser top applying 2 coats, then 3 top coats EM 6000 satin lacquer with 4% crosslinker. Had to deliver before the full 120 hour cure but after 72 hours, the finish was pretty hard. Pretty sure it will hold up well.
These people are very helpful to work with, prompt shipping and excellent packaging, to say nothing of an excellent product.
I was a furniture refinisher in the late 80's and I never liked the water based lacquers for a variety of reasons. Now that I'm retired and I've gotten back into finish carpentry and woodworking, I'm pleasantly surprised by the Emtech EM6500 custom tint lacquer. This coating is super easy to work with, has very low volatiles, goes on beautifully and lays out excellently. I love it!
Purchased this product, was able to have a fine application tutorial provided to me by Seth.
Applied a total of seven coats, sanding in between, based on instructions and achieved a soft lustrous finish on a walnut table top.
Started using EM6000 about a year ago and have excellent results. Saves time and money
I have enjoyed using Target coatings for over ten years, and have been more than satisfied with everything I have used. They produce a wonderful finish, and are highly compatible with each other. EM6500, EM8000CV, EM7000HBL, EMC9300, and the toners, as well as EM2000 are the products I have used the most, and I find them to be perfect for my projects.
I have been a professional wood finisher and painter for 35 years. I began using Target coatings 20 years ago and the products just keep getting better! The customer service is beyond any other company.
First couple of small experiments with EMTECH products: First was walnut top for a cabinet. Used grain filler, then oil based stain, and then used 7 coats of EM 8000 varnish, the last three coats of which I added the Crosslinker at 5%. The top came out really nice, and I am in the waiting (curing) period prior to sanding and polishing. So far, so good, but I think I noticed the viscosity changed (thicker) after mixing in the crosslinker. Not sure about that.
Using your EM2000 finish for first time, easy to apply with brush and dries within an hour. I was able to apply three coats in a day.
Generally I hated coloring my pieces... I have tried to talk customers into letting me use a clear finish on their wood. Previous water base stains were hard to apply evenly due to rapid drying and no blending. Dyes fade - I had a table where placemats were left in place and the sun faded around the placemat. Oil base stains were the only option until the NR4000, which works great. Dries rapidly but slow enough to allow blending and shading. Still rapid dry for next coat and easy cleanup.
Used this on top of the EM1000 sealer that I had added some trans tint dye to to warm up some hard maple desktops and table tops that I was working on. Used a HVLP sprayer, applied three coats over the three coats of sealer. Turned out great.
Tinted with Trans tint liquid dye to and some warmth to several desktops and table tops of hard Maple that I was finishing for a project
Started using Target Coating about a year ago and glad I made the decision to change. Shown in the attached photo is one of my custom frames
I consistently get excellence results. It is a great product. I typically rub out the finish and this product stands up to it very well. Attached is a picture of a cherry hall table that I built and finished with EM6000. The cherry is 40 year old air dried. The top is veneered with quarter sawed walnut and cherry. I applied 6 coats, waited 8 days and rubbed it out .
New to spraying and didn’t want to have to use nitro . This is a great product.
I have used this product for the last 15 years or more. I developed a reaction to nitrocellulose which caused heart palpatations. After I got over that (by not using anything for 5 years) I switched to EMTECH finishes and have had no more problems.
I like this finish a lot. I use it on guitars and mandolins. It has a great shelf life. I won't go into details, but lets just say it keeps much longer than the recommended time and still performs great.
In my opinion my instruments sound just as good if not better with EMTECH than they did with nitrocellulose.
The water clean up and low VOC properties are great.
Easy application with HVLP. I used a 1.3 cap. I'm going to experiment with the next size up, but this did come out nicely. It was a little tougher to spray than the production lacquer, but still laid down a good finish. I used the retarder at about 7-8%, and I think that was a good mix for me.
I will definitely use the product again!
